Philips Norelco Best Electric Shavers

Philips Norelco Best Shavers logoBefore we list Philips Noreclo Best Electric Shavers, here is the interesting story of the most frequently confused brand name in the Electric Razor market. The entire reason for Norelco existing as a company name was purely to get around legal issues.

You see,the company that brought you Philips Norelco electric shavers was a only a small business that was simply trying to operate in the U.S. in 1940.There was also a company named Philco at that time. Philco was an electronics manufacturer whose name would become synonymous with the manufacture of radios.

But, Philco became nervous, because the name ‘Philips’ sounded too much like ‘Philco’.

Philco sued Philips to prevent them from doing business in the United States, and won.

So, the name ‘Norelco’ was registered in the U.S. as an alternative to ‘Philips’.

Norelco was a loose acronym for ‘North American Philips Electrical Company’ and once they had set up shop legally in the U.S. they wasted no time in jumping to the head of the pack in introducing a string of innovations that gained the attention of the American public. Norelco became permanently linked with the best electric shavers you could buy.

In a strange “what goes around comes around” moment in 1981, Philips bought the Philco Company, enabling them to do business legally once again in the U.S. under their own name.

But, they decided that Norelco enjoyed such fame as a producer of the top electric shavers in the U.S. that they would be in danger of diluting their own market by re-introducing the ‘Philips’ name into the personal grooming market. So, they kept the name Norelco.

So whenever you see Philips Electric Shavers, Norelco Electric Razors or Philips Norelco you are talking about the one Company.

Norelco practically pioneered the rotary electric shaver. And, we’d like to look at some of the best new models that they have come up with recently.

Philips Norelco 1280X/42 Senso Touch
Philips Norelco Best Shavers 1280X/42 Senso Touch
The three GyroFlex 3D heads that this electric shaver boasts makes for a thoroughly dynamic shaving experience.

The three heads move independently providing a superb coverage. They flex outward, and tilt inward. They pivot around the contours of your face and minimize the irritation that electric shavers can be prone to. These UltraTrack heads can get even the longest hairs in record time. They provide 50% more coverage than another comparably priced electric shaver.

The Senso Touch also features the patented lift & cut system. This is a two-blade system that actually lifts the hairs before they are cut, enabling the electric shaver to cut the hair below the surface of the skin with minimum pressure.

The Senso Touch comes with a charging stand, and luxury travel pouch. The charging stand provides around 60 minutes  of shaving time on one charge. And, it can be fully charged in as little as an hour. Or you can charge it enough to provide you with one shave in only 3 minute’s.

It also comes with a protective cap that covers the blades and protects them from the elements, and a cleaning brush that enables you to keep the heads free from any beard trimmings and keeps the electric razor operating at its peak efficiency.

The Sensotouch also features the Aquatec seal. This seal protects the electric shaver and allows it to be used along with gels or creams in a wet mode to get an extra close shave. These features gained it our number 2 ranking in our top 10 shaver list.

Philips Norelco PT730 Powertouch
